Mental Health & Wellbeing
What is Mental Health?
Mental health includes our emotional, psychological, and social well-being. It can affect how we think, feel, and act. It also helps determine how we handle stress, relate to others, and make choices. Mental health is important at every stage of life, from childhood and adolescence through adulthood. Mentalhealth.gov
Here at Gedney Church End Primary Academy we work hard to promote positive mental health and wellbeing to ensure all pupils are able to cope with changes, emotions and situations in their lives that they may find challenging. We understand that all the children will face some difficulties throughout their lives and we aim to support them in managing these appropriately and with confidence.
Mental health difficulties is a continual growing issue which also greatly effects young people. Studies have shown that 1 in 9 children aged 5-15 have a mental health disorder (NHS, 2018). There is no one single way for schools to provide an environment that helps support mental health and wellbeing however we work hard to ensure all members of staff contribute to creating a mentally healthy, nurturing environment for all pupils.
